MRS. G. W. GILLILAND DIED ON SATURDAY

Widow of Former Custodian of Madison County Farm Succumbs

Mrs. G. W. Gilliland, well-known Madison county woman, died last Saturday. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Gilliland was the former Cynthia Jane Harrison, daughter of James and Martha Harrison and was born in Indiana on October 25, 1862. She came with her parents to Madison county as a child, the family settling near Webster Center. On September 24, 1892, she was married to George William Gilliland. They were parents of a son, Albert Gilliland, now of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She also reared the three children of her sister who died when the children were young. Those children are now Mrs. Grace Painter of Winterset, Mrs. Goldie Bohnsdahl of Chicago and Mrs. Alice Thayer of Winterset.

In addition to her son and children she reared, she is survived by four brothers, Benjamin, James, Thomas and Frank Harrison; and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Rudolph, all of Winterset.
