CARL BELL IS DEAD OF HEART TROUBLE

Lincoln Township Farmer Passed Tuesday After Brief Illness

Carl Bell, a prominent farmer in Lincoln township for many years, died at his home Tuesday after a brief illness with heart trouble and complications, He was 58 years of age.

Mr. Bell was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Bell of near Earlham. Since his marriage, which occurred 30 years ago, he had farmed in Lincoln township, with the exception of eight years spent on his father's farm near Earlham.

He is survived by his widow and one son, Jay Bell; in addition to two brothers, Frank Bell of Winterset and Harry Bell of Bloomington, Illinois; and two sisters, Mrs. C. C. Couch of Adel and Mrs. Simon Fox of Greeley, Colorado.

Funeral services were to be held today (Friday) at 2 p.m. from the Ord church in Lincoln township in charge of the Rev. W. G. Robertson of the Winterset United Presbyterian church. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.

Carl Bell

Carl Bell, 58, a resident of Madison county the greater part of his life, died Tuesday evening, February 9, after a month’s illness at his home in Lincoln township.

For several years, he had suffered from a heart ailment and complications, however, he took an active interest in life and his home, and enjoyed (up to the last minute) visiting with his many friends.

Born in Madison county September 22, 1878 he was the son of J. N. and Anna Louisa Bell. When a young man, he joined the United Brethren church, northeast of Earlham. Later on October 10, 1910 united with the Christian church of Ord. He was married to Effie Trowbridge of Patterson September 19, 1906. One son, Jay, was born to them.

He leaves his wife, son, two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Fox of Greeley, Colorado; Mrs. Blanche Couch of Adele; two brothers, Frank Bell of Winterset and Harry Bell of Bloomington, Illinois, and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held at the Ord church Friday afternoon by the Rev. W. G. Robertson. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
