CHARLES ELIAS PRITCHARD

Charles Elias Pritchard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Pritchard, died Tuesday, Sept. 13th, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he was taken Monday following a short illness. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in DeSoto, with the Rev. E. A. Elliott pastor of the U.B. church in Van Meter, in charge. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Benfield. The pallbearers were sophomores in the school. During the services, the high school was dismissed, and the teachers and pupils attended in a body. Charles was an eighth grade graduate in the spring of 1937.

Charles was born in Winterset July 16, 1922, and was just a little past 16 years of age. When he was two years old he moved to DeSoto with his parents, and his life since has been spent here. He had a quiet, loving disposition and his greatest pleasure was in the tasks that made life easier and sweeter for his parents and his sister Mildred. In school he was a studious scholar.

Besides his parents, and his sister Mildred, he is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Pritchard, Sr., of West Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hermon of Winterset, numerous uncles and aunts, and cousins, and a host of friends who mourn his death which is especially sad as he was just in the prime of young manhood. As the minister said "Some time we'll understand".

Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.
