Dale D. Young, 76, of Winterset died May 13, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Church of the Nazarene in Winterset. Visitation will be from 1–8 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 16) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with the family present to receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.
Dale Young was born June 12, 1930, in Adair County to Ralph and Bernice (Kirkland) Young. He attended Adair country school (Pumpkin Center), Creston country school, and Macksburg High School. Dale was a truck driver for Edwards Trucking and also farmed part time and worked carpentry with his uncle. His marriage to Doris Travis McKeever Davis took place Aug. 2, 1997, at North Ward Plaza in Winterset. He attended services at the Church of the Nazarene in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Winterset; four stepsons, Monty McKeever, Jerry McKeever and Robert McKeever, all of Winterset, and Larry “Buck” McKeever of Des Moines; two sisters, Maxine Wheeler of Lorimor and Myrtle Bailey of Altoona; a brother, Phil R. Young of Wentzville, Mo.; and nine stepgrandchildren, 22 stepgreat-grandchildren and 11 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
