February 6, 1936Death of David Johnston
David Johnston, veteran Douglas township farmer, died at the Winterset hospital, Monday. He was about 70 years of age.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset. The Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ was in charge. Burial was to be made at Newton today.

David L. Johnston was born in Scotland September 9, 1865, the son of John M. and Jane Boyd Johnston. He died February 2 at the Winterset hospital.
At the age of 19 he came with his parents to Illinois. In 1885 the family located at new, Iowa, where he was married to Jennie Brown April 27, 1892. In March 1918 then located on a farm in Douglas township which has since been their home.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his widow, three children, Keith Johnston, Mrs. Irene Koehler and Mrs. Ruth Gindling, all of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Brown of Resida, California; and Mrs. A. A. Johnson of Eldora; and a brother, John S. Johnston of Mitchellville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 5, at the Ramsey – Richards funeral home conducted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ; burial was at Newton the following day.
