Well-Known Madison County Resident was 79 Years of Age
George W. Huston, well known Winterset resident, died here Friday, Nov. 27, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 79 years of age. His death followed a brief illness.
Mr. Huston was born at Warsaw, Ill. On Aug. 2, 1880, a son of Ruban J. and Anna Huston. He came with his parents to Madison county in 1887, spending the remainder of his life here.
He was married Dec. 9, 1903, to Josephine L. Clement of Macksburg. Her death occurred in 1958.
His life was spent farming in Madison county, until his retirement of a few years ago, when he moved into Winterset.
He was a member of the Christian Union Church of Ord.
Surviving are eight children, Stanley Huston of Marshalltown, Della Kapper of Chicago, Emma Christensen of Winterset, Harold Huston of Jackson, Mo., George Huston of Lorimor, Ruth Ridgeway of Burbank, Calif., Roy Huston of Peru, and Paul Huston of New Virginia. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters, John Huston of Rapid City, S. Dak., Harry Huston of Montana, Frank and Denver Huston of Marshalltown, and Nellie Johnson and Helen Alexander of Marshalltown; in addition to 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from Anderson’s home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Earl Travis of Shellsburg.
Burial was made at Macksburg.
