MRS. NELSON JACKSON IS SUICIDE VICTIM

Elderly Widow Victim of Poison Here Last Wednesday

Mrs. Nelson Jackson, well-known 71-year-old Winterset woman, died at her home here last Wednesday as the result of a dose of self-administered poison.

Mrs. Jackson took the poison about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and lived until the next day. County Coroner A. A. Richards termed the case as suicide and did not hold an inquest. (6. 10-28-1936)

Mrs. Jackson was the former Clariea Belle Perry, daughter of Daniel and Dicy Perry, and was born March 16, 1865 in Marshalltown. At the age of 4 years she moved with her parents to Story county where they lived until 1886. Then they emigrated to Decatur county, Kansas.

She was married to L. J. McKinzie on January 29, 1887. They were the parents of five children; Mary (deceased), Mrs. George Dooley of Cumming, Mrs. Robert Brittain of Winterset, Mrs. J. J. Major of Midlothian, Illinois, and Perry McKinzie of Hondo, California. Her husband died in 1901.

On June 14, 1913, she was married to Nelson Jackson. He died in 1933.

Mrs. Jackson was formerly a member of the United Brethren church. Upon moving to Winterset she transferred her membership to the Church of Christ. She was a prominent member of the Woman's Relief corps.

In addition to her children, she is survived by two brothers, Marion Perry of Honor, Michigan and Ebon Perry of Grand Junction, Colorado; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Shoemaker of Federal Dam, Minnesota.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Saturday, in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the United Brethren cemetery. (North McDonald cemetery)
