SCOTT HILDEBRAND DIED ON MONDAY

Douglas Township Farmer Had Been Ill About Two Weeks

Winfield Scott Hildebrand, a life-long resident of Madison county, and one of its most substantial citizens, died Monday at the home of his son Oscar Hildebrand, with whom he had lived in recent years. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Hildebrand had been ill about two weeks. Death was caused by heart trouble and complications.

He was born in Douglas township on October 17, 1861 and spent his entire life in that community, where he became an important land owner.

His wife preceded him in death about 24 years ago. He leaves four sons and two daughters, Oscar, Mark, Hugh and Rhyno Hildebrand; Mrs. Roy Ford and Mrs. Charles Allen, all of Madison county.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Tidrick funeral home in Winterset, in charge of his nephew, the Rev. Eugene Alexander of Minburn. Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery.

W. S. Hilderbrand

Winfield Scott Hilderbrand, son of Samuel and Martha Hilderbrand, was born in Madison county October 1861. He died at the home of his son, Oscar, Monday evening April 19 at 8 p.m., aged 75 years, 6 months and 3 days. He had been seriously sick for the past 12 days.

On December 31, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Eldora Barrows of Winterset. His wife preceded him in death on June 13, 1913.

The most of Mr. Hilderbrand’s life was spent in Douglas township. He leaves four sons, Oscar, Mack, Hugh, Ryno and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Allen and Mrs. Roy Ford, 17 grandchildren and one brother, Neil Hilderbrand, of Norwalk.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Tidrick funeral home. Rev. Eugene Alexander of Minburn was in charge of the services.

Pallbearers were Homer Tilton, Willis Martin, Dwight Casper, E. V. Guye, Elson Robertson and Wesley Johnson.

Burial was in the family lot in the McDonald Cemetery.
