BENJAMIN F. BOYD DIES IN LOS ANGELES

Benjamin F. Boyd, formerly a well known Winterset resident, died Jan. 20 at his home in Los Angeles, Calif., according to word received here this week. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. Boyd was born in Winterset on March 6, 1876, a son of Thomas and Mary Childers Boyd. As a boy, he lost the sight of both eyes in an accident, and the remainder of his life was spent in total blindness. Despite this handicap, he successfully engaged in business, both in Winterset and in California, where he moved in 1910.

He was married here in 1897 to Miss Deddie Stitt. They were parents of two children, one of whom died in infancy.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Paul Boyd of Los Angeles; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services and burial were held at Los Angeles.
