OBITUARY

Clarence E. Wilson was born December 14, 1871, a mile west of Earlham, where he lived for sixty-five years.

His parents were Christopher and Martha Wilson. He had three sisters, Ida, Lillian and Winifred.

Clarence started school at a country school near his home. Later he attended the public school in Earlham, the Earlham Academy, and the Agricultural College at Ames, Iowa. He furthered his studies at Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He was married to Myrtle Thomas, also of Earlham, on March 4, 1903. On November 29, 1914 they adopted Audrey Maxine, a baby girl one month old.

For a number of years Clarence was in partnership with his father on the farm where he was born. After his father's death he and Myrtle purchased part of the original farm, and lived there until December 12, 1937, when they moved to Los Angeles, California. Here they operated a Guest House for several years. On October 18, 1946, they moved to San Francisco, California.

For many years Clarence was a member of the Friends church in Earlham. On moving to San Francisco he became a member of the First Baptist church, and will be remembered by both congregations as a staunch Christian and supporter of the church.

Clarence and Myrtle led a long and happy married life, and on March 4, 1953, celebrated their "Golden Wedding Anniversary" at the home of their daughter and her husband.

A loving husband, father, and brother leaves to mourn his passing his wife Myrtle, daughter Maxine and her husband Paul Sargent, his sisters, Ida Griffin of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Winifred Cooper of Miami, Florida. In addition he leaves many nephews and nieces and dear friends. His sister, Lillian Godby preceded him in death.

Clarence passed away January 24, 1958, at his home in San Francisco, and is being laid to rest in the cemetery near Earlham, the town of his birth.
