Death of Samuel Walker
S. M. Walker was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, August 6, 1825 and died April 12, 1908, aged 82 years 8 months and 7 days. At the age of twenty years he moved to Park county, Indiana, where he was married to Caroline Cheezem, April 13, 1848, which was just sixty years to the day before his death. To this union were born thirteen children, eight of whom survive him, two sons and six daughters. He moved with his family to Madison county in 1858, where he has since made his home.
On March 1st, 1906, his loving wife was taken to her home beyond, and the last two years of his life have been spent in traveling around visiting with his children, a good part of the time being spent in Colorado, where he has three daughters and where he was during his last sickness and death. He was converted and joined the M. E. church in 1854, since which time he has lived a faithful, exemplary, Christian life. At the time of his death he was visiting his daughters in Colorado and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Lee, of Pueblo, Colo. His son, J. E. Walker, of Truro, was at his bedside and brought the remains back to Truro.
The funeral was held in the M. E. church, at Truro, last Friday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the Ebenezer cemetery.
