Albert Harris, retired Winterset business man and a resident here more than half a century, died at Memorial hospital Tuesday after an extended illness. He was 89 years of age.

Mr. Harris was a native of England, where he was born at Water Gate, Chittlehampton, on March 15, 1863, a son of John and Catherine Burgess Harris. He came to the United States as a young man, settling first at Winona, Ill., but several years before 1900 he came to Winterset. His residence had been here since that time.

In Winterset he engaged in the restaurant business, and was the last operator of the famous St. Nicholas hotel in this community.

He was married here to Louise Purscell, whose death occurred in 1916. His only son, Charles Harris, died in 1929.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray King of Winterset, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Clement Loehr, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
