Jefferson Township Farmer Came to County at Age of 17 Years
Rufus E. Baker of Jefferson township, whose death on Dec. 1 was reported in the Madisonian last week, had lived in that community since he was 17 years of age.
Mr. Baker was born at Lake Geneva, Wisc., Dec. 26, 1862, the son of Ezekial and Esther DeLong Baker. His mother died when he was 2 years old, and he came to Iowa with his father in 1879.
As a young man he was married to Miss Daisy Allen. They were the parents of two daughters. The wife and one daughter preceded him in death.
On Dec. 15, 1910, he was married to Mrs. Alta Mason. They were the parents of one son.
Mr. Baker was the last of his immediate family. He leaves his wife; the daughter, Mrs. Roy Cleveland of Winterset; and the son, Marvin, at home.
(Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery)
