CHARLES KINNAIRD OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Funeral Services Were Held Saturday for Retired Farmer

Charles E. Kinnaird, well-known resident of the St. Charles community, died at a nursing home there last Wednesday, June 5, at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Kinnaird was born Oct. 2, 1877, a son of Elmer and Sarah Kinnaird. His active life was spent in farming near Norwalk, New Virginia and St. Charles, until his retirement in 1943. He was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church, and the Masonic lodge in that community.

He was married April 29, 1899, to Clara Ashworth, whose death occurred in 1918. They were parents of five children. One son, Theril, died in infancy, and two daughters, Mrs. Eveline Downs and Mrs. Bonita Onstot, also preceded the father in death.

Surviving are a son, Everett Kinnaird of Grinnell; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Downs of St. Charles; a brother, William Kinnaird of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Pine. Burial was made in the Norwalk cemetery.
