JERRY PETTIT, Winterset

Jerry Lee Pettit, 66, of Winterset died March 18, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery.

Jerry Pettit was born June 17, 1940, in Adair County to Ed Pettit and Agnes (Jones) Pettit Rudolf and was a 1960 graduate of Macksburg High School. His marriage to Dorothy Norine Murphy took place March 12, 1964, in Afton. Jerry started his career as a farm hand. He lived most of his life in Winterset, working at BB&P for the past 25 years. He also worked at Farmers Co-op for eight years prior to that.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven Pettit.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Winterset; one son, Rick Pettit of Grimes; one daughter, Rebecca Pettit of Winterset; three sisters, Lucille Meisenheimer and Joann Lemon, both of Winterset, and Janice Fisher of Maryville, Mo.; three brothers, Bill Pettit of Corpus Cristi, Texas, Don Pettit of Winterset and Dick Pettit of Prescott; and two grandchildren.
