Wednesday, February 1917JOHN W. WINTERMANTLE
John W. Wintermantle was born March 13, 1869, at Winterset, Madison county, Iowa, and departed this life at his home near Baldwin, Kans., Feb. 5, 1917, at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 22 days.
He was the only son of John and Caroline Wintermantle, who were among the early member of the evangelical association in Iowa. At the age of 39 years he was converted and united with the church, of which he proved a faithful member.
In 1896 he was united in marriage with Nellie Heim of near Baldwin, Kansas, to which were born two children: Elmer, aged ten years, and Faye, aged six years. Besides the bereaved wife and children, there are left to mourn, one half sister, Mrs. Kate Woodford; three half brothers: Henry, Fred and Charles Lotz; and other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Wintermantle was a patient sufferer for many years, but made a brave fight and through all manifested an unusually cheerful disposition. In the home he was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father. He was a good neighbor and a genuine friend.
