ALBERT HOLMES IS TO BE BURIED HERE

Services This Thursday for Former Resident Who Died Saturday

Funeral services for Albert Holmes, a native of Scott township who died last Saturday at Fargo, N. Dak., will be held here this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home.

The rites will be in charge of the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr., pastor of the Winterset Baptist church, and burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Holmes had been a resident of Leeds, N. Dak., for many years, but his death occurred in St. John's hospital at Fargo. He had been in failing health for several months. He was 51 years of age.

Mr. Holmes was born in Scott township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael B. Holmes. He left here for North Dakota in 1915.

Immediate surviving relatives are his wife, the former Ethel Herman of Scott township; seven children, John Holmes of Leeds, Alice Holmes of Grand Forks, N. Dak., Squire Holmes at home, Gladys Holmes of Minneapolis, Minn., Wendell Holmes of Noyes, Minn., and Wayne and Betty Holmes at home; three brothers, S. D. Holmes of Wintock, Wash., M. B. Holmes of Troutdale, Ore., and Fred Holmes of Winterset; and one sister, Mrs. Essie Worley of Winterset.

MORTUARY

Albert Holmes, son of the late Michael and Alice Holmes, was born June 26, 1888 in Winterset, Iowa, and died October 21, 1939, in Fargo, North Dakota, being fifty-one years, three months, and 25 days of age. He was married to Ethel Hermon, also of Winterset, on March 18, 1908. To this union were born seven children: John, Squire, Wendel, Wayne, and Betty of Leeds, North Dakota, Alice of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Gladys of Minneapolis, Minn.

He lived in Winterset until 1915 when he moved with his family to York, North Dakota, then in 1932 to Leeds, North Dakota.

Besides the above mentioned members of his loving family, he is survived by one grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Essie Worley of Winterset; three brothers: Starling of Winlock, Wash., Fred of Winterset, and M. B. of Portland, Oregon, besides other relatives and many friends.

He was converted in the Baptist church near the old home in Iowa. He was always friendly and of a cheerful disposition which character he was able to show even in his illness.

Funeral services were held in the Community Congregational church at Leeds, North Dakota, on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Rev. Amel Whitwer, being in charge of the service.

His body was brought to Winterset where services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Thursday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m., in charge of the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, Jr. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
