NIMROD BROOKS HOLLINGSWORTH

Nimrod Brooks Hollingsworth was born March 9, 1841 in Grant county, Indiana. Died at his home near East Peru, Madison county, Iowa, July 22, 1914, aged 73 years, 4 months and 13 days.

He removed from Indiana with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, in 1859, and resided here almost continuusly until his death. He was married to Evaline Hiatt, Dec. 25, 1862. Four children were born to this union. A son and daughter died when quite small.

His wife, two sons, two daughters in law, four grandchildren, one brother J. J. Hollingsworth, of Cortez, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Weymouth of Kansas City, Mo., who was with him during the last few weeks of his illness, with a large circle of relatives and friends are left to mourn his loss. A niece, Mrs. J. J. Dawson of Des Moines, and a brother in Law, Elum Hiatt of Edmond, Okla., attended the funeral.

He united with the Christian church about 1890, and served the county for one term as a member of the board of supervisors.

He and his wife settled on the land, which they improved and made into a comforable home when it was vacant prairie. His disposition was cheerful and he loved nature, and the woodlands especially. He was a kind, patient, loving husband and father, and was by nature clean and honest in all business and social life.
