FERN M. DAVIS April 12,1919 - Feb. 24,2007

Fern Davis, age 87 years, 10 months, and 12 days, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Farmington, Mo. She was born April 12, 1919, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Powell Rogers and Mae Belle (Hatfield) Rogers.

On Dec. 1, 1936, she was united in marriage to James William Davis who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1991. To this union five children were born.

Fern is survived by two sons: James William Davis Jr. and wife Carolyn of Dittmer, Mo., and Charles Alfred Davis and wife Christina of Barnhart, Mo.; three daughters: Bette Louise Davis How and husband Walter of Festus, Mo., Barbara Jean Davis Beals and husband Zachary of Holden, Mo., and Patricia Ann Davis Ashley and husband Charles of Cedar Hill, Mo.; three sisters: Ethel Jeffs of Union, Mo., Aletha Miller of Denver, Colo., and Esther Rusk of Aurora, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren.

Fern loved her family dearly. She was a very loving and considerate person. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers — Elmer, Claire, Riley and Leslie Rogers. She was a member of the High Gate Baptist Church, St. James, Mo., and was always a supporter of the church’s missions. She was converted to faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 9. Fern drove a school bus in the St. James district for 12 years. She delivered meals to shut-in people and was a Senior Companion for 11 years. Fern was a people person, a multi-talented person, and a very determined woman. She had lived at The Baptist Home, Ironton, since Dec. 27, 2005.

Funeral services were held Feb. 28 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Mo. Interment was at High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery, also in St. James.
