The death of Mrs. Christoph Frech occurred suddenly Sunday evening, Feb. 4th, 1917, at her home in Jackson township.
For the past 18 months, she had been suffering from some heart weakness, resulting in her unexpected death, which came instantly.
Mrs. Frech was born in Merklingen, Wurtemburg, Germany, was married there, the family coming to this country in 1881, and living in New York city for a few months. After a residence of 14 years in Dallas and Warren counties, the Frechs moved to Madison county, residing on their present farm for 21 years.
Mrs. Frech would have been 66 years old today had she lived.
Six children remain: Mmes. Frank Groth and Oscar Lee of Jackson; Mrs. J. F. Meilikee of St Charles, Will, Minnie and Paul, living at home.
Services were held at the West Star church Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. W. J. Stewart, with interment in Winterset cemetery.

Katherine Dorothea Shuele was born at Merklingent, Wurtemberg, Germany, Feb. 7, 1851. Departed February 4, 1917, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 2 days. For a year and a half she has been afflicted with heart disease, which was the cause of her death.
July 25, 1875, she was given in marriage to Christoph Frech. To this union were born 12 children. Six of the children were called home during early childhood. Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, one son, William and five daughters: Mrs. F. W. Groth and Mrs. Oscar Lee of Winterset; Mrs. J. F. Meilike of St. Charles; Minnie and Pauline and also four grandchildren.
On May 3, 1881, Mr. and Mrs. Frech came to New York. In December of the same year they came to Iowa and located in Warren county. From there they moved to Dallas county and in 1895 they located on a farm near Winterset, where she spent the remainder of her life.
At the age of 14 she united with the Lutheran church and remained faithful to her Lord and Master all her life. The family feels the loss of a God-loving and praying mother. It has always been her prayer that her family be useful instruments in God's hands and that she and her family be prepared to meet their Lord face to face.
Funeral services were held at West Star church Tuesday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. J. Stewart assisted by Rev. R. A. Grigsby and interment in Rock City cemetery.
