R. G. MARQUARDT DIES

Van Meter (Special) Sept. 4th--

Rufus G. Marquardt died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3 at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines after an illness of many years of diabetes. He had been in the hospital three weeks, and had undergone a blood transfusion about a week before his death. Mr. Marquardt was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Marquardt and spent his life in this vicinity. He was 57 years old. His wife was the former Leona Wishmier.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Golightly of Earlham, two sons Eugene of Winterset, and Carroll of Van Meter, three brothers, William F., Carl and August Marquardt all of Van Meter, three sisters, Mrs. William Wishmier and Mrs. Arthur Jensen of Van Meter, and Mrs. Bertha Maas of Whitewater, Wisc., and one grandchild.

The funeral was held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C. Lilie.
