David J. Abrams, son of John and Mary Abrams, was born in Licking county, Ohio, March 14, 1841 and died at his home in Winterset, March 23, 1923, aged 82 years and 9 days. He moved with his parents to Iowa when four years of age. On Feb. 25, 1864 he was united in marriage to Lydia James, and to this union were born five children, two of whom died in infancy. One daughter, Leona, died May 22, 1903.

Mr. Abrams and family lived on one farm in Douglas township for 50 years. He moved to Winterset in the fall of 1913, where he continued to reside until the end.

He united with the Church of Christ during the winter of 1913 and remained steadfast and loyal unto death. He was always to be found in his place in the Bible school and church services as long as he was physically able to attend.

He leaves to hold him in cherished memory, the wife, one son, John; one daughter, Mrs. Clara Wight, all of Winterset; a twin brother of Osceola who was unable to attend the funeral service because of illness, and one grandson, Wallace Wight of Winterset. A large circle of staunch friends was also gained by Mr. Abrams, who linger to hold him in treasured memory.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ by E. B. Chancellor Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
