Adam Hartsook was born in Gallin county, Ohio, Oct. 8, 1827 and departed this life March 15, 1911, at the age of 83 years 5 months and 7 days. He was married to Martha Fugit Dec. 14, 1870 who preceeded him in the spirit world one year ago, Dec. 12th. His boyhood days were spent in Ohio. He made several trips to Illinois before coming to Iowa, where he like many of the old pioneers, settled on a farm in Grand River township, where he resided continuously until August 16, 1910, since then he made his home with W. E. Hartsook.

He was converted when a young man and had so often spoke of his love for this Master. His last illness was of twelve and a half weeks duration, caused by infirmities of old age.

The funeral services were held at the Fellowship church in Monroe township, March 16, 1911 at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Booth of Lorimor and his body laid to rest by that of this companion at that place. (Buried in Hamblin Cemetery)
