Methodist Minister Conducts Services at Richards Funeral Home
Funeral services for Frank D. Carey, Douglas township farmer and former Winterset businessman, were held Saturday from the Richards funeral home, with the Rev. G. L. Hufstader, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church presiding. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. His death occurred last Wednesday at the age of 63 years.
A native of Jewell, where he was born May 17, 1885, Mr. Carey had lived most of his life in this community. He was educated at Iowa State Teachers college in Cedar Falls, and taught school for a number of years. After that he engaged in the grocery business, as a member of the Carey Brothers firm of Winterset, for many years. In recent years he had farmed west of Winterset.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, by a former marriage, Mrs. Margaret Sanders of Denver, and Mary and Virginia Carey of New Boston; one grandson, four brothers, Walter, Dean and Harold Carey, all of Winterset, and Edgar Carey of Ogden, Utah; and four step-daughters, Clara Hanshaw of Des Moines; Mrs. Ethel Cuney of Loveland, Colo., Mrs. Alice Welp of Wray, Colo., and Mrs. Hattie Dinmick of Loveland.
