NORA INMAN

Nora Mae Clayton was born at Albion, Nebraska September 5, 1883, the second of the nine children of Frank and Flora Clayton. At an early age, her first trip to Iowa was made with the family in a covered wagon. When she was 14 years old the family moved to Oakland where they lived and she was married to Powers Inman on December 5, 1900.

In 1903 Powers and Nora moved near Redfield and then north of Earlham where 37 years of their active life was spent at farming. It was in 1939 that they moved into Earlham and lived until Mr. Inman’s death in September 1964 after which Nora chose to spend the winter at the Park View Retirement Home. While there she first became ill, followed by years of much suffering and many handicaps; in spite of which she always had a smile and pat on the hand for all who cared and comforted her.

Mrs. Inman became a member of the Earlham Friends church when they first moved here and all who knew her, in her own quiet way, knew that it was only through the love of God that she could radiate so much love, kindness and patience to her family and friends. In this quiet way death came to her Sunday, May 30.

She is survived by two sons, Floyd of Phoenix, Arizona, and Frank of Earlham; two daughters, Doris (Mrs. Jess Nelson) of Earlham, and Blanche (Mrs. Sidney McGrady) of Clear Lake; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, sons and daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a son Glen, seven sisters and one brother.
