DUDLEY JONES, AGED 77, DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Dudley Jones, member of a family prominent in Winterset many years ago, died at San Jose, Calif., recently, it has been learned here.

Mr. Jones was born in Winterset and spent his early life here. In 1889 he moved to Livingston, Mont., and most of his life was spent in that state, where he became a prominent citizen. He moved to Malta, Mont., in 1895 to operate a meat market there, and in 1898 he moved to Dodson to establish a ranch which he operated until the time of his death.

He served six terms in the Montana state legislature, as representative from Phillips county. He was county commissioner for two years, and served as mayor of Dodson for many years. He was also warden of the Montana state penitentiary.

His death occurred at the age of 77 years, at the home of a daughter in California, where he had gone for medical attention.

Funeral services were held at Dodson and burial at Malta.
