Wilson, son of Joseph and Abbie Diggs, was born August 16, 1862, while the family home was located near Winchester, Indiana. In the year 1871 the family moved to Iowa locating on a farm east of Earlham at which place they resided until their removal to Earlham, December 1911. He and his twin brother William have lived the greater part of their lives in the same home.

Wilson Diggs was born in the days when every child born into a Friends family became a birthright member of the Society of Friends, thus he was a birthright member of the Friends Church.

He was never very strong and rugged. For the past few years he has been in declining health, while for about three months he has failed rapidly. His suffering was great, but he has bore it patiently, always fearful lest he be a burden to those who cared for him. He was confined to his bed for seven weeks.

During these weeks of suffering he repeated many scriptural texts and was heard to repeat John 10: 4, 5; “And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.”
“And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.”

Also, he repeated the entire Twenty-third Psalm many times and often expressed his desire to go home where all is peace, love, and joy.

Wilson Diggs came to the close of his earthly life on October 7, 1926, at the family home in Earlham. He leaves one daughter, Galene Shaw, of Seattle, Washington, three grandchildren, one sister and the twin brother.

Funeral services were held at the home Sabbath afternoon at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Ella Newlin and Moses Mendenhall.

Burial was in Earlham cemetery.
