DEATH OF WM. ZIEMANN

Van Meter Special, May 23rd-Word has been received of the death of William Ziemann on Sunday afternoon, May 21st at the Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Mr. Ziemann, whose home is in Oakes, North Dakota, had been at the hospital about two weeks and had suffered an operation a couple of days before his death.

William Zieman, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Zieman, was born in Germany sixty-six years ago. When four years of age he came with his parents to Clayton county, Iowa. A few years later the family moved to Jefferson township, Madison county and William grew to manhood in this vicinity. On February 3, 1892 he was united in marriage to Martha Storck. After his marriage he lived several years in Van Meter and ran the Van Meter creamery. About 1900 they moved to a farm near Oakes, North Dakota, where they have since resided. He served his district there in the state senate.

He is survived by his wife, one son Harold of Oakes, North Dakota, who was with his father at the hospital and gave blood for a transfusion; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Oakes, and Mrs. Gladys Stevens of Wimbleton, North Dakota; three brothers, Rinald of Oakes, Emil of Earlham, Otto of Van Meter; one sister, Mrs. Mary Fundinger of Van Meter and two grandsons.
