MRS. A. L. BISHOP DIED WEDNESDAY

Life-Long Resident of This Community Was 87 Years of Age

Mrs. A. L. Bishop, a life-ling resident of Winterset, died this Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Curtis Dowler, in Des Moines. She had been bedfast the last four years. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Bishop was the widow of the late “Abe: Bishop of Winterset, who was nationally known as a member of the circus aerobatic team of Bishop Brothers.

She was the former Effie Snyder, daughter of Andrew and Rachel Blair Snyder. She was born here Nov. 29, 1869 and spent her life in Winterset until four years ago, when she became ill and went to the home of her daughter in Des Moines.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of Winterset.

Her marriage to A. L. Bishop occurred Nov. 11, 1903.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Bishop, on April 6, 1947, and her husband and Oct 2, 1945. She leaves the daughter, Mrs. Rachel Dowler of Des Moines, two sisters, Miss Nellie Snyder who made her home with her for a number of years, Mrs. Walter Clark of Winterset; a brother John Snyder of Des Moines; and two grandchildren, Joan Bishop of Springfield, Illinois, and Gene Bishop of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
