MRS. JOHN HENRY DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. John Henry, mother of Mrs. L. E. Mason of Winterset, died at her home in Des Moines Monday after a long illness. She was a former resident of the St. Charles community.

Mrs. Henry was 74 years of age. She was born in West Virginia on July 18, 1873. Most of her early life was spent at St. Charles, and she moved to Des Moines in 1910.

In addition to Mrs. Mason, she leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Bertha Somers of Waukee, and Mrs. Leota Woods of Des Moines. She also leaves her husband; two brothers, Albert and Floyd Hoff of Florida; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday from the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Howard Strong, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Rites Wednesday for Laura Henry

Services for Mrs. Laura Layton Henry, 74, of 1212 E. Nineteenth St., who died of a heart attack Monday at her home, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson’s funeral home in Winterset. Burial will be at St. Charles.

Born in West Virginia, Mrs. Henry lived in Des Moines most of her life.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Somers of Waukee, Mrs. Leota Woods of Des Moines and Mrs. Ilo Mason of Winterset, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Coordinator's note: Deceased's name, per her Iowa Death Certificate, is Laura Catherine (Hoff) Henry, wife of Robert R. Henry. She was first married to J. M. McCollum in Madison County in 1890.
