Delbert D. Bomar Dies At Earlham

Delbert D. Bomar of Earlham, a well known retired farmer, died suddenly at his home in that community, Nov. 28. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Bomar was a native of Glenwood, where he was born March 30, 1881. He was a member of the Nazarene church, but had attended the Methodist church since moving to Earlham.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha, two foster sons, Daniel Bomar of Des Moines and Olin Bomar of Earlham; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Harris of Medford, Ore., and Mrs. Maude Davis of Iola, Kan.

Funeral services were held from the Earlham Methodist church, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens at Des Moines.

Del Bomar Died Here Wednesday

Del Bomar, longtime resident of this community, died suddenly Wednesday forenoon. He had come down town and was visiting in the Kempe garage, where his grandson, Jack Bomar works, when he died.

Arrangements had not been made at press time but it is thought that the funeral will be held at the Earlham Methodist church Friday or Saturday.

Funeral Services For A. D. Bomar

Funeral services were held at the Earlham Methodist church Saturday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. for A. D. Bomar who died suddenly last Wednesday.

Services were in charge of Rev. Anthony Blankers. Mervyn McLennan was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. McLennan.

John Henkle, Fred Scar, Leonard Scar, Norman Scar, Evans Lorimor, and Carol Rinert were casket bearers. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.

Adelbert David Bomar, son of Jane W. and Richard B. Bomar was born March 30, 1881 at Glenwood, Iowa. He passed away November 28, 1956 at the age of 75 years, seven months and 28 days.

His early life was spent in Kansas where he attended school. Later he was employed on several ranches in Texas and throughout the west.

On July 20, 1904 he was united in marriage to Bertha Willis. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary together in 1954. Two foster sons, Daniel and Olin were reared from early childhood in their home.

After his marriage Mr. Bomar engaged in farming in several localities in Iowa until ten years ago when he retired. Since that time he and his wife made their home in the Earlham community.

He was a member of the Nazarene church but had been a faithful attendant of the Methodist church since coming to Earlham.

Mr. Bomar had been in failing health in recent years but was able to enjoy daily association with his neighbors and friends. He was a lover of nature and was always happy when working in God’s great out of doors. He was a devoted husband and father and no sacrifice was too great for him to make for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, two sons, Daniel J. Bomar of Des Moines and Olin F. Bomar of Earlham and six grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Earnest Harris of Medford, Oregon and Mrs. Maude Davis of Iola, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews.
