MARIE BRANT, TRURO

Marie E. Brant, 80, of Truro died Feb. 2, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Carol Iammatteo-Code officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.

Marie Brant was born Jan. 12, 1927, to John Erven and Ruth Eva (Hammans) Brant of rural Truro. She received her education from the Oak Run Country School in Madison County and Truro High School, graduating in 1944. Following graduation she attended Omaha Business College. Marie was employed for a short time at Union State Bank in Truro before starting her lifelong career at the Natural Gas Pipeline Company (NGPL) in rural Truro, retiring in 1992. While working at Natural Gas Pipeline, she helped organize the NGPL Credit Union and CFO from 1958 until 2003. She was a lifelong member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and was church treasurer for many years. She also was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Freida and a brother, William.

She is survived by two brothers, John Brant of rural Truro and Walter Brant of rural Osceola; and four nephews, five nieces, 18 great-nephews and nieces and 32 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Truro Congregational United Church of Chirst. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home of Osceola and Truro.
