Mrs. Dicy McQuie

Mrs. Dicy McQuie, daughter of Andrew S. and Nancy Evans Speer, was born in Madison county, Iowa, in 1872, and departed this life July 9, 1930, aged 57 years, 11 months and 11 days.

On February 26, 1896, she was united in marriage to Alex McQuie. Besides her husband she leaves four brothers and five sisters: Mrs. Alice Anderson, of Pasadena, California; Mrs. Elizabeth Platt, of Patterson; Wm G. Speer, of Newton, and James M., Robert E., Chas. D., Mrs. Blanche Mark, Mrs. Adela Blomquist, and Mrs. Mabel Bricker, of Earlham. All of these except two sisters and one brother were present at the funeral.

Mrs. McQuie for many years was an active member of the Church of Christ at Early Chapel. Interested in all the interests of the church. Funeral services were conducted before a large audience of relatives, neighbors and friends. Many beautiful floral offerings were the token of the esteem in which she was held.

Mrs. Sandy McQuie

Dicy Speer was born August 28, 1872 and died July 9, 1930 at the Stuart hospital at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 19 days. She was the sixth child of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Speer in a family of twelve children, nine of whom are now living. A brother, Andrew Speer, died in 1900 and another brother, John, in 1914. The death of her father and mother occurred ten years ago.

She was married to Sandy McQuie in February 1897. They settled on a farm five miles south of Earlham where they spent their entire married life. She united with the Christian church of North River in 1894 and was a member of the Rebekah lodge of Earlham.

Mrs. McQuie is survived by her husband, and her brothers and sisters, James, Robert and Charles of Earlham; William of Newton; Mrs. Alive Anderson, of Hollywood, California; Mrs. Lizzie Platt, of Patterson; Mrs. Adelia Blomquist, Mrs. Blanche Marks and Mrs. Mabel Bricker of Earlham.

Funeral services were held at the Early Chapel conducted by the Rev. Hastie and burial was in the Peru cemetery.
