Death of Sarah Beaman

Sarah Ellen Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Nelson was born at Anderson, Indiana on May 11th, 1860 and came with her parents to Adair county when about 14 years of age, and spent the rest of her life in that county.

On December 24, 1882 she was united in marriage to William E. Beaman and to this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys. One daughter, Mary, wife of Clayton Wambold, preceded her mother in death in 1917. The children surviving are: Elzie of Stuart, Oral, Earlham, Mrs. Golda Estel, Harve, Mrs. Grace Estell, Mrs. Hazel Beedle, all of Winterset and Frank and Mrs. Merle Crawford of Dexter.

She and her husband united with the Webster M. E. church a number of years ago.

She has been very patient during the long weeks of suffering since August. She passed away January 2nd at the age of 72 years, seven months and 22 days, leaving her husband, eight children and 28 grandchildren and one brother John Nelson.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Winterset conducted by the Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star and Worthington churches assisted by Rev. A. P. Keast. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
