At Minneapolis, Where She Had Been Living Past Five Years
Mrs. Ella Hardy, a well-known Winterset and Madison county resident for all but the last five years of her life, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at Edina, Minn. She was 78 years of age, and had been in rapidly failing health for the last six months.
Mrs. Hardy was born in Madison county and spent her entire life here until five years ago, when she moved to Minneapolis to be with her children, Fred Hardy and Mrs. M. J. Johnson.
She was the former Ella Mills, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Mills, and was born in Madison county, Jan. 1, 1872. She was married to Bert L. Hardy, Feb. 20, 1890. They were the parents of three children, one of whom, Mrs. Mary J. Cresswell, preceded the mother in death.
Mr. and Mrs. Hardy spent their married life in Winterset. Mrs. Hardy was active in the work of the First Baptist church, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Women's Relief corps here.
Mrs. Hardy's husband died in 1940. She is survived by her son and daughter; three grandchildren; a brother, Claude Mills of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. S. Koehler and Mrs. Frank Welch, both of Winterset.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Kenneth E. Seim of Minneapolis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
