Ollie Trindle was born June 20, 1854, near Lafayette, Ind. She was the youngest of four children born to Andrew and Mary Ann Trindle. She moved with her parents to Iowa at the age of four years. They settled on what is now known as the Ralph Jennings farm, afterwards to the Harry Shoults farm, where they resided until her marriage to Elliot Cook on July 1, 1874. They began housekeeping on the Elliot Cook farm two and a half miles south of Union Chapel, where they lived until his death, Jan. 1, 1912, after which she moved to Van Meter, where she remained until her death, Sept. 15, 1924.

She gave her heart to the Lord when but a child and has been an active member of the U. B. church at Union Chapel and afterwards at Van Meter.

Aunt Ollie was the last of her immediate family, her nearest relatives being two nephews, Ernest Trindle of Van Meter and Wm. H. Trindle of Salem, Ore.; three nieces, Mrs. Gokuss and Mildred Trindle of Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Rucker of Oakland, Cal., besides a number of half nieces and nephews, Mrs. Minnie Pitzer, having been with her and caring for her during her last years, Albert DeHart of Des Moines being the only cousin of the deceased. Aunt Ollie was always kind to the poor and needy, going about quietly doing good deeds that were known only to those that received them. She was kind and considerate to all and will be greatly missed, both in the church and community. Her last illness was of short duration and while not well for some time, her death was a great shock to all. Thus passed into history the last of this family of pioneers that helped blaze the way to make this country what it is today.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the U. B. church, conducted by Rev. Hollingshead.
