WILLIAM ALBERT SCAR

William Albert Scar, son of Edward and Elizabeth, nee Fett, was born at Earlham Iowa, June 10, 1882. He was baptized July 9, 1882 and confirmed on April 11, 1897 at Zion Lutheran church at Dexter.

He received his education in Penn Center school, Earlham Academy and Dexter Normal School. He then taught at Penn Center school.

On January 10, 1909, he entered into marriage with Mina Kathrena Wedemeyer of Adair. To this union were born three children. For many years he was engaged as a farmer and stockman. Upon retirement from this in 1945, he moved to Dexter.

Mr. Scar was active in community affairs, serving as instructor in the GI farmer-apprentice program after World War II. He also served as president of Dexter Community Club.

He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran church, serving as Sunday School teacher for 50 years and in various offices including chairmanship of the building committee of the present church.

Mr. Scar departed this life on Saturday morning, May 25, 16 days before his 86th birthday. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Gladys of the home, Mrs. Norine Nath of Wichita, Kansas and one son, The Rev. Wm. Scar of West Newton, Mass., five grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. John Willrich, two brothers, Charles and Fred and other relatives and friends.
