PHILIP MARTIN, North Carolina

Philip Dean Martin, 74, of Hope Mills, N.C., Dec. 23, 2006, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Red Springs, N.C., with Rev. James Wilhide officiating. A military burial was held at he Sandhill State Veteran's Cemetery in Spring Lake, N.C.

Philip Martin was born May 16, 1932, in Madison County to James Gordon and Francis (Murry) Martin. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His uniform is on display at the Madison County Historical Museum in Winterset.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel L. Martin and Douglas J. Martin, both of Raleigh, N.C., two daughters, Dixie M. Wagers and Deborah J. Martin, both of Parkton, N.C.; two brothers, Richard M. Martin of St. Charles and David G. Martin of Martensdale; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
