Mrs. John Simon

Luella Starbuck was born June 2, 1870, near Ackworth, Iowa. Her early life was spent there.

She was united in marriage on December 13, 1894 at her home, to John Simon.

Two children were born, LeRoy of Caddo, Texas and and John Hubert of Winterset.

Twenty-one years ago they moved to Madison county, and for the past three years they have made their home in Winterset.

Mrs. Simon was a birthright Quakeress. She was united with the Methodist church at West Star. She was active in the church at Ord when living in that community.

Her mother is still living and is past 90 years of age. Of the twelve children six have been taken and six still survive. They are, Gayer Starbuck, Leonard Starbuck and Miss Francis Travis, all of Plainville, Kansas; Frank Starbuck of Staples, Minn.; Harvey Starbuck of Wassanberg, Colorado; and John Starbuck in Oklahoma. She also leaves her husband, John Simon and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Simon was a great lover of children and was very thoughtful for elderly people and always tried to do something for some one. She took an active part in war work for the boys in France. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Rebekah lodge.

Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock the funeral was held. Rev. Shenton and Rev. L. C. Cooley officiating with the ritual by the Rebekah lodge of which she was a member. Interment was made in Rock City Cemetery.
