Elizabeth Ann Simon, 67, of Winterset died of cancer Nov. 24, 2000, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. Committal services were held at Murray Cemetery.

Elizabeth Simon was born May 9, 1933 to Herron Miner and Vera (Bauman) Eckels Sr. of Lake City. Her marriage to Robert Simon took place March 17, 1956 in Osceola. She had been employed as a CNA and CMA (15 years at Integrated Health Services and 19 years at Winterset Care Center North) as well as assisting her husband in the farm business. Prior to her marriage, she had been an elementary school teacher in Colo. Elizabeth was a member of the First Baptist Church and Madison County Sheep Producers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Rebecca Paxton (husband Rick) of Afton; two sons, Randy Simon (wife Cathy) and Rodney Simon (wife Jeri) both of Winterset; a sister, Vera Jane Roan of Murray; a sister-in-law, Marjory Grodt of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
