85-Year-Old Citizen Died at Nursing Home Here Last Friday
Edward C. Bailey, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at the McCauley Nursing home here Friday, April 18 at the age of 85 years.
Mr. Bailey was born in this county Feb. 2, 1867, a son of Moses and Mary Chandler Bailey. He was married Jan. 16, 1902, to Elisabeth Montgomery. She died in 1910. There were no children born of this union.
On Jan. 5, 1914, he was married to Emma Kinkennen Gregg, who survives him. In addition to his wife, he leaves a step-son, Frank Gregg of near Iowa City; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers of Lorimor and Mrs. Clara Eyerly of Winterset; and a brother, William Bailey, also of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. Floyd Chatham, Church of God pastor, in Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
