Emma Schroppel Dies at 98

A resident of the St. Charles community and Blair Chapel neighborhood of South township for almost a century, Emma Schroppel, died Wednesday, November 16, 1977 at Villa West Care Center in Winterset. She was 98 years of age.

Miss Schroppel was born August 11, 1879, in Des Moines. She farmed with her half brother, Chris Wolfe, on the Wolfe family farm near Blair Chapel from the late 1880's until 1955, when she moved to St. Charles.

Affiliated with the United Brethren church, Miss Schroppel was preceded in death by her parents, a half brothers, Chris and Conrad Wolfe.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 18, from Collins Funeral home. Rev. Robert Toso officiated. Burial was made at the Blair Chapel cemetery.
