Phillip Schirm, Boone

Phillip Schirm, age 85, of Boone and formerly of rural St. Charles, died at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on February 6, 2004 of respiratory failure. His body has been cremated and graveside services and burial will be at a later date at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.

Phillip was born in Madison County near Winterset on May 14, 1918, the son of Edward and Edna (Trowbridge) Schirm. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1937. He served with the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in central and southern Europe. He married Lois (Finger) Lestina in Boone on January 3, 1975. He lived most of his life in Madison County moving to Boone a year and a half ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Dorothea.

He is survived by his wife Lois of Boone; two stepsons, Marvin Lestina and his wife Virgie of Boone and Richard Hankinson and his wife Marilyn of Des Moines; a step-daughter Janice Stumbo and her husband Dean of Boone; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one nephew and three nieces.
