Funeral services were held at DeSoto from the Methodist church Jan. 9 for Mrs. Fred A. Luscombe of that community, whose death occurred Saturday, Jan. 5, at a Des Moines nursing home. She was 72 years of age.
Mrs. Luscombe was the former Sarah Anna Fair, daughter of James H. and Sarah Fair. She was born Dec. 25, 1879, in Ida county. She was married Dec. 26, 1906, to Fred A. Luscombe. They farmed in Ida county until 1915, when they came to Madison county. In 1937 they moved into DeSoto.
She leaves her husband; four children, Mrs. Hazel Thompson of Des Moines, Mrs. Mabel Bane of near DeSoto, George Luscombe of Grand Junction, and Charles Luscombe of Charlotte, N.C. She also leaves 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Tessie Smith of Windom, Minn., and Mrs. Margaret Coulter of Ida Grove; and three brothers, John and Will Fair of Ida Grove and Thomas Fair of Battle Creek.
Officiating at the funeral services was the Rev. Floyd Newbrough. Burial was made in the Oakland cemetery.
