ROBERT L. ICEMAN, Wooster, Ohio

Robert L. Iceman, 80, of Wooster died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at his home.

Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, Ohio, Friday from 5–8 p.m., with a Masonic Memorial Service at 4:30 p.m. Services will be held at the Shreve United Methodist Church, Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Nashville Cemetery.

Born May 29, 1926, in Holmes County, Ohio, he was the son of Charles L. and Viola G. Bowman Iceman. He was president and CEO of the Gerstenslager Company, retiring May 30, 1986, after 42 years with the company. Robert had been a director of the company’s board for nine years and a director for the Central Trust Company for seven years. His community activities included eight years as a member of the Triway Board of Education, past chairman of the Wooster Area Manufacturers Association, member of the Shreve Village Council, past chairman of the industrial division of the Wooster United Way, Wooster Rotary Club, American Legion Post 67 of Shreve, Shreve United Methodist Church, Wooster Century Club, member of Garfield Lodge 528 of Shreve, Wooster Shrine Club, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, and the Al Koran Shrine Temple in Cleveland.

Robert’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, swimming and restoring old automobiles.

He served his country in the Cavalry of the United States Army during World War II from 1944-46.

He is survived by his wife, Perie H. Williams Iceman, whom he married Feb. 1, 1947; his children — Thomas (Kathy) Iceman of Wooster, Janet (Brad) Burnett of Columbus, Ohio, Becky (the Rev. Steve) Koch of Winterset, Iowa, and Judy (David) Burnison of Twinsburg, Ohio; grandchildren Michael, Erin, and Susan Iceman; Zach and Allie Burnett; Hannah, Thea and Rachel Koch; Kelly (David) Sutton and Elizabeth Burnison; stepgrandchildren Dan (Jaime) and Katy Koch; great-grandson Everett Sutton; brothers Daniel F. Iceman of Wooster, Mac H. Iceman of Massillon, Ohio, and Lester B. Iceman of Berlin, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald E. Iceman.
