Lingering Illness Ends for Long-Time Resident of Near St. Charles
Mrs. Byron Downs, a resident of Madison county practically all her life, died last Friday, Feb. 23, at her home south of St. Charles. She was within two days of her seventy-second birthday. Her death came after a long illness.
Mrs. Downs was the former Dora B. Rundall, daughter of Franklin and Cinda Rundall, and was born near Truro Feb. 25, 1879. She spent her entire life in Madison county with the exception of nine months in Missouri.
She was married Sept. 19, 1919, at Des Moines, to Byron Downs. She had been a member of the Methodist church since early life.
Surviving are her husband; a sister, Mrs. Grace M. Patterson of Greenfield; three nephews, Paul Patterson of Greenfield, Franklin Patterson of Westpoint, Nebr., and Richard Patterson of Wakeeney, Kan.; and a niece Mrs. Lorraine South of Greenfield.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro. Burial was made in the Young cemetery.
