Sandra Sue Oxley, 59, of Menlo died from complications of Parkinson's disease April 27, 2001, at her home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 2, at the Jefferson Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry White officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Sandra Oxley was born April 25,1942, in Winterset to Floyd L. and Velma L. (Gillet) Smith. A 1960 graduate of Winterset High School, she married Donnis Dean Oxley on Oct. 29, 1960, in Grant City, Mo. She had resided throughout southern Iowa all of her life, including Kent, Creston, rural Greenfield, Villisca, rural Perry and Menlo, where she and Donnis lived for the past 29 years. A homemaker, she had worked at the Lennox Nursing Home, Al's Super Valu in Stuart, Sunny Fresh in Panora, New Homestead Care Center and Breadeaux Pizza in Guthrie Center. Sandra had been a mmember of Fellowship Church in Lorimor, Jefferson Center United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Society and Penn Avenue Methodist Church. She also had taught Sunday school for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Donnis, of Menlo; two daughters, Deborah Wenger (husband Les) of Mariposa, Calif., and Angela Wood (husband Dallas) of Menlo; five sons, Donald Oxley (wife Debbie) of Briggsdale, Colo., Dale Oxley (wife Cheryl) of Adair, Neal Oxley (wife Janet) of Perry, Randall Oxley (wife Dana) of Swisher and Michael Oxley (wife Linda) of Des Moines; a sister, Phyllis Vreeland of Prairie Farm, Wis.; a brother Melvin Smith (wife Charlotte) of Ladysmith, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart.
