EDGAR HARRELL PASSED TUESDAY

Member of Pioneer Family Here was 86 Years of Age

Edgar Harrell, member of a pioneer Madison county family and a life-long resident of this community, died at his home in Winterset early Tuesday, January 16th. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Harrell was born Sept. 19, 1864, in Scott township, a son of Edmund and Margaret Harrell. Most of his life was spent on the home farm in Scott township. In recent years, since retiring, he had made his home in Winterset.

He was married Oct. 25, 1885, to Etta Hircock. They were the parents of 11 children. The wife and mother died about 20 years ago, and four of the children preceded the father in death. They were two daughters, Mrs. Ada Wilson, and Nellie Harrell; and two sons, O. E. and E. B. Harrell of Winterset.

He is survived by six children; Mrs. Glen Newton of Winterset, Mrs. J. H. McDonald of Salem, Oregon, Lee Harrell of Peru, Gail Harrell of Winterset, Glen Harrell of Alliance, Nebr., Mrs. Loren Jones of Winterset and Mrs. Tom Gordon of Aumsville, Ore. He also leaves 29 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. John Holmes of Winterset and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, and burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery. Rev. A. R. Weed, a former Madison county pastor, will have charge of the services.
