Mrs. Leona Lydia Wishmier, daughter of Alma and Wm. Scarborough, was born in Madison county, Iowa, near DeSoto, on February 2, 1898, and departed this life at Marshalltown, Iowa, July 5th.

She was reared in the locality of her birth. After that her parents moved to Adel, and it was there that she graduated from the school. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

She entered Holy Matrimony with Mr. Henry Wishmier on May 23, 1923, the ceremony taking place at Des Moines. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Jack, of New Hampton, Iowa.

Mrs. Wishmier was a member of the Christian Church until 1939, when she became affiliated with the Lutheran church. She received the holy writ of Confirmation in this church on January 15th, 1939.

She always took an active part in the affairs of her church. As a member of the Ladies Aid Society and otherwise, she was ever ready to share her time and talents in Christian service.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wishmier first made their home at Van Meter, then for a time at Minneapolis, Minnesota and then removed again to the vicinity of Van Meter.

In addition to the duties of a house wife, Mrs. Wishmier, for the last eight years filled a position in the employ of Graham Department Store in Winterset.

She together with her husband left on Monday of the past week, to visit with their son and his family at New Hampton. It was on their return on Wednesday morning, that they met with this tragic accident which resulted in the death of Mrs. Wishmier and the still critical injury of her husband.

Mrs. Wishmier brought her age to 52 years, five months and three days.

There remain to survive her sudden death, her husband and one son, two grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Thornton and Mrs. Lizzie Bolander, both of Adel, and one brother, Millard Scarborough of Santa Ana, California.

May God comfort all of them, and us, as He alone can.

MRS. HENRY WISHMIER DIES IN HEAD-ON CAR COLLISION

Henry Wishmier Critically Injured in Same Accident

Mrs. Henry Wishmier, aged 52, of Jefferson township, was killed this Wednesday morning in a head-on automobile collision on highway No. 64, southwest of Marshalltown.

Henry Wishmier was taken to a Marshalltown hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition.

Mr. and Mrs. Wishmier were returning home from Nes Hampton when the accident occurred. They had been spending the Fourth of July holiday at New Hampton with their son, Jack Wishmier, who is athletic director of the school there.

Mrs. Wishmier's death occurred when the car driven by her husband, collided with an automobile carrying two Marshalltown men, both of whom were seriously injured. Officers investigating said that the Marshalltown car was on the wrong side of the road, and that charges would be filed against the driver.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Wishmier are widely known throughout Madison county, Mr. Wishmier served for many years as chairman of the Madison county PMA committee, and at present is vice chairman of that organization.

Mrs. Wishmier has been employed for the past several years as a clerk in the Graham Department store in Winterset.
