DAISIE SMITH, 87, Died Here Sunday

Mrs. Daisie Smith, member of a prominent Winterset family, died Sunday, July 30, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended illness. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Smith was a life-long resident of this community. She was the former Daisie Connoran, daughter of Ed F. and Irene Young Connoran, and was born in Winterset June 23, 1874.

She was married June 23, 1897, to Warren Smith, a Winterset business man and civic leader for many years. His death occurred in 1953.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, and was active in its affairs for many years, serving as president of the Ladies' Church council. She was a past president of the P.E.O. of which she was a 60-year charter member. She was also active in Current Topic club.

She is survived by two sons, Alden C. Smith of Scarsdale, N.Y., who is an international partner of Price-Waterhouse and company of New York, and Clifton W. Smith, Winterset insurance agent. She also leaves two grandchildren, Mrs. Milton Talman of Scarsdale and Clifton Smith Jr., senior student at the University of Colorado at Boulder and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
